Firefighter Eligibility List


The Rock Creek Fire District will be testing for an eligibility list for the position of firefighter.  The Rock Creek Fire District was formed in 1992 and serves eastern Twin Falls County and portions of northwestern Cassia County, approximately 212 square miles. The cities of Kimberly, Hansen, and Murtaugh are also included in the district.  


The Rock Creek Fire District is a rapidly growing area, with Kimberly seeing a growth of over 40% in the past 10 years.  The District responded to over 1400 calls for service in 2020.  The District has 3 stations, with Station 1 being staffed 24 hours a day.


Applications can be picked up at Fire Station 1 or found on the Rock Creek Fire Department website:  Testing will be held on Friday, October 1st, at 1:00 pm at Rock Creek Fire Station 1, 1559 Main Street North, Kimberly, ID.  Applications are due September 24th, 2021, by 5:00 pm.


Job Description


Examples of Duties:

  • Respond to medical emergencies and fire alarms; suppress fires of any type that threaten life and/or property; participate in search and/or rescue operations.

  • Participates in training opportunities and physical fitness activities.

  • Ensures the proper condition, maintenance, and appearance of apparatus and equipment; prepares apparatus for immediate response.

  • Assists in completing and maintaining records related to training, incidents, and/or other related items.

  • Participates in the daily functions of the fire station, which may include: housekeeping, cooking, carrying out crew assignments, and/or performing other related duties.

  • Participates in fire department programs, such as pre-fire planning, training, and public education.

  • Participates in and/or facilitates training sessions to the public on fire and medical related topics.

  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.




Training and Experience:

  • Minimum 19 years of age.

  • High School Diploma / GED.

  • Licensing/Certification Requirements:

  • Valid Idaho Driver’s License or ability to obtain within 90 days.

  • State of Idaho Certification of Firefighter I or equal (Pro Board or IFSAC preferred), or ability to obtain within one year.

  • State of Idaho EMT basic certification, or National Registry, or ability to obtain within one year.


Knowledge of:

  • Fire suppression techniques.

  • Modern firefighting and rescue principles and tactics.

  • Emergency medical care.

  • Physical fitness principles.

  • Vehicle, equipment, and apparatus maintenance principles and techniques.


Skill in:

  • Providing emergency medical care.

  • Suppressing fires.

  • Using a computer and related software applications.

  • Maintaining vehicles, buildings, equipment, and apparatus.

  • Driving emergency response vehicles.

  • Conducting flow testing and service on hydrants.

  • Maintaining physical fitness.

  • Preparing and maintaining reports.

  • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
